• St. Margaret Women’s Fellowship

“GotSneakers?”, a sneaker recycling organization is the latest endeavor of our St Margaret Women’s Fellowship ministry and we are asking for you help.

    How can you help?
Please do NOT discard any outgrown or worn:

    Sneakers (those without metal cleats)
    Leather sandals,
    Work boots,
    Shoe boots (booties)
    Leather slippers,

Sizes 5 plus for women and 7 plus for men (No children’s shoe items).

Because individuals and families here at home and in developing countries, who are desperately in need of footwear and economic opportunities will thank you. An added benefit is that the Fellowship will be compensated for the footwear it collects! Any money received from GotSneakers? will go toward the ministry’s outreach, social and religious programs and scholarships for our St. Margaret Church students.

Where to I bring my donations?

Starting November 2nd, a large shoe collection box will be placed in the lobby of the Parish Center and another box will be just inside the FRONT doors of the church. Before placing the shoes into either of the boxes, please tie laces of matching sneakers together or place elastic bands around the other pair.

Your donations will be collected and sent monthly to “GotSneakers”? for redistribution and remuneration.

If you have any questions, contact Rita Gould at mgould89@comcast.net or (860) 663-3042.

  • Welcome note from SMWF President

  • Hello There!

As President of St. Margaret Women’s Fellowship (SMWF), I would like to invite you to be part of an interesting and exciting year. While it is true that we cannot, at this time, affix specific dates to our plans, I, nevertheless, want to tell you about some of the fun and inspiration your $15.00 membership dues will provide when we are able to assemble. Program chair Rita Gould and Vice President Lori Koczak have worked tirelessly to arrange these eclectic programs and events … we think that we have something for everyone!

We will re-acquaint with old friends and, hopefully, make many new ones, install officers, be entertained by a wonderful singing group, and be lightly refreshed at our first meeting…date TBA when considered a health-conscious decision!

Our Covered Dish Supper will feature an Audubon speaker teaching us how to attract birds to our yards.

At subsequent meetings: actress and historian Kandi Carle, as Jane Austen, will introduce us to Elizabeth Bennett and dreamy Mr. Darcy as they dress, authentically, for a ball;Well-known author Eric Lehman will give us the scoop on “The History of Connecticut Food”; we’ll have a Cheese 101 tutorial and tasting; and, finally, we will celebrate the year’s end with a box supper.

Proposed events are an Open Your Hearts Charity Tea, a Sock Hop, the Bake Sale, the Mother’s Day May Crowning and a lavish Champagne Cocktail Party and Decades Fashion Show.

The Fellowship, throughout the year, will have a Got Sneakers? Collection, hold Days of Reflection, host Coffee ANDS on third Sundays, a Simple Supper during Lent and parish receptions, participate in outreach programs and raise funds for our Scholarship awards.

I hope you are excited about this wonderful women’s organization and program. Would you show that enthusiasm and support by filling out the attached membership form, writing your $15 dues check (payable to St. Margaret Women’s Fellowship) and sending it to Maryann Francischelli, 10 Sterling Park Drive, Madison, CT 06443?

Please consider your dues an investment in the wonderful things we will do when we are able to meet again … all will be in place!
